Last Minute Application Tips!. Grades and test scores are essential in the admission process; there is no doubt about that. Nevertheless, although we want for pupils who possess challenged themselves academically and who have performed well in school, we count on the qualitative factors of the application to arrive at a choice. At this time in the process, senior school seniors should focus their attention on the presentation components of the application: the essay, short answers, extracurricular tasks, and the page of recommendation.

The Essay

The essay is really a pupil’s opportunity to tell us who they are, perhaps not only as being a person but also as a pupil. Probably the most effective essays are the most authentic essays. We are really to know who our candidates are. The advice that is best I can provide to students is to ‚be yourself‘.

Short Answers

They are called answers that are short buuuut they shouldn’t be too short of an answer. The answers that are short taken very really in our review process. They give us insight that is valuable to students’s academic interest aswell as their commitments outside of the class room.

Extracurricular Activities

We have been searching for students who will be active members associated with USC community. I always recommend that students list any commitments they’ve outside of this classroom. Including old-fashioned clubs, sports, volunteer organizations, work experience etc. But it addittionally includes, non-traditional activities such as for instance taking care of siblings or other family users, productive hobbies like photography, marathon training or everest that is climbing.

Letter of suggestion

Pupils often feel they approach to write a letter of recommendation on their behalf like they do not have control over their letter of recommendations; yet, students do have control over whom. We need that a minumum of one recommendation come from somebody who can comment on the student’s academic character and possible (i.e. Teacher or counselor).

Final Application Deadline Approaching

The festive season is upon us which also coincides with what we call file review season in our office. The December 1 merit scholarship deadline has passed away at USC, however there is still time and energy to apply by the January 10 application that is final for first-year applicants.

Although January 10 may feel distant because it’s about a month away, now’s the time that is best to place the finishing touches on the application, such as securing any last recommendation letters and having someone proofread your essay. This time of is meant to be relaxing and provide you with a break from studying and working hard in your classes year. By looking after any college that is remaining details now, you can reward your self with some time and energy to really enjoy your senior 12 months!

We value our time off from work during winter break, so our staff works difficult during the of December, as well month. Visiting Campus over the Holiday Break? No problem!

I invested part of my morning at USC’s bookstore while our file review system was temporarily down monday. In the midst of finding the exact size and item that I became looking to buy as a Christmas gift for a member of the family, We took a moment to pause and look around—the bookstore was incredibly busy! I wondered the thing that was going on and realized that not only are finals winding down this week, but pupils are preparing to go back home for the holiday break and had been also doing some gift shopping that is last-minute. The bookstore may have been super crowded early in the day this week, but by this weekend, our campus will be mostly empty as the University closes for vacation break from December 22 January 1.

Also although the admission office will never be staffed over the break, prospective students and families are welcome to visit campus and take their particular tour that is self-guided! We know that many visitors want to tour USC on weekends and in other cases of year whenever we do not provide formal trips, thus we’ve developed the official USC Self-Guided Tour pamphlet for the college visit requirements! This resource follows the path that is same USC guides take on their tours and it carries a map and pictures of significant buildings and locations on campus as a guide. On the way, you’ll start to see the Campus Center that houses student offices and dining choices, scholastic buildings, and libraries such as Doheny Memorial Library, the oldest research library on campus. Similar to every tour led by our present students, the tour that is self-guided at the infamous statue of Tommy Trojan. Through the entire 12 months, it is possible to often see students, alumni, along with other guests taking pictures in front of Tommy, so don’t be shy to take one yourself!

What tour is complete without supplying information regarding the areas around campus and things to do in Los Angeles? In the last page of the brochure, various local museums, restaurants, activities venues, and shopping areas are highlighted in case campus site visitors want to explore areas off campus, too.

Whether the truth is USC in your own or led by way of a tour guide, you are yes to get a sense of just what our gorgeous campus and the city of LA have to give you. Enjoy the vacation break!
